ASX placement capacity

Listing Rule 7.1 lets a company issue 15% of its shares in any 12 months without asking holders. The percentage is how much of that we estimate each company has left, before any ratification, and beside it the banded cash cover from its latest quarterly — room to place, and how long the money lasts.

Of 1,406 companies with an estimate, 29 have used all of it. 190 have 25% or less left, listed here, least first. As at 12 Sept 2026.

What this page is, and is not

  • “None left” is not a wall. It means our estimate has reached the allowance, not that the company cannot issue again — a rights issue, a share purchase plan or a holder vote are all still open to it, and holders can ratify a placement after the fact.
  • Cash cover is banded, and it is a separate reading. It comes from the company's latest quarterly — the same band the screener shows — and a dash means that quarterly does not support one. We put no score over the two columns and rank on neither: little room and little cash is a question to go and read the filings about, not a prediction.
  • It is an estimate, and two things pull opposite ways. We count the issues we can see in the last 12 months against the share base at the start of it. Every error we know of overstates usage — a ratification we did not see, most of all — which leaves more room than we show. The rounding runs the other way: usage is rounded DOWN to a whole percent, so the room we show is the larger of the two — “4% left” means anywhere from 3-point-something to 4. Neither is a bound on the other, so treat the number as the neighbourhood and the company's own page as the detail. Below one percent we say so rather than round up to 1%.
  • Ratification hands capacity back, and we do not always see it. A placement approved by holders after the fact stops counting against the 15%. Where the resolution is not in the filings we hold, this page still counts the issue.
  • 7.1A is a separate 10%. Eligible companies can seek an extra 10% each year. The mark says the company has also placed under it; the percentage here is the 15% only, and the extra 10% is not in the denominator.
  • The companies below 75% are not listed. This page is the cohort with little room left. Any company's own figure, and the filings behind it, are on its page. See methodology.
